Referral and the Process of Counselling:

  1. Please get in touch with me via email or phone
  2. I accept self-referrals. I also accept referrals (with your consent) from family, friends, agencies and professionals such as schools, employers, social care and GP’s
  3. We will have a free no obligation discussion on the phone or in person. This provides an opportunity to discuss your concerns and help clarify the support you might need. This assists me to ensure I am the correct person for you and that you are comfortable with me. I will discuss areas such as confidentiality and record keeping, but will explain these more fully in the first session
  4. If I believe someone else could assist you better, I will point you in the right direction
  5. If you decide to go ahead, we will arrange a regular time
  6. We will meet for the first session. This will include a discussion on areas such as confidentiality agreements and record keeping. I will need information from you such as the name of your GP and I will ask you questions about your health and wellbeing. We will start by discussing your aims and the ways we will work together. We will discuss how many sessions you may want and how often we will review the progress
  7. Sessions will then occur at the agreed intervals
